About Juli
Juli Szatmari is a Hungarian singer-songwriter based in Bielefeld, Germany.
Inspired by the music of ABBA, The Beatles and Queen, she took up playing the guitar at the age of 12 and subsequently began to write her own music. She has won several music competitions in Hungary for her songwriting, including the Peron Music Talent Contest 2013 and the Hangfoglalo Music Contest in 2013. This made it possible for her to perform at several well-known festivals like FEZEN, VOLT Festival or the Valley of Arts.
Her first band formed in 2013 with Judit Rozsnyoi (violin), Akos Günsberger (guitar), Matyas Borbely (bass) and Peter Laskay (drums). Her first album “Ismerj fel”, produced by David Schram, was released in 2016. The record included the single “Hadd legyek”, which made it to the list of the “Top 100 most-played songs” in 2014. The band had the honour to perform a nationwide broadcasted live radio concert at Radio Petöfi. Besides touring with the band Juli Szatmari also played solo concerts, e.g. at the well-known concert venue boat A38 in Budapest.
Juli Szatmari moved to Germany in 2017 where she has continued writing her music. During the Covid pandemic she recorded her second album titled “Monkey Business” – the release of this work is currently in the making.
